What associations do you have when you hear the word Ukraine?
Або:
1) Think of 5 things associated in some way with Ukraine. Now think of associations you have got in connections with them. Compare your list with your partner.
2) Write the names of the most outstanding people of Ukraine. Then write the activities they are famous for.
3) The first thing that comes to our mind when we are speaking about any country is its geography. Give your associations with this word, e.g.:
Town, city, river etc.
Let’s do the crossword
1. What continent is Ukraine situated on? 2. What do we bless in the church on Easter? 3. Where is Kyiv situated on? 4. What is the highest mountain in Ukraine? 5. What do we celebrate the week before Easter? 6. Which is the longest river in Ukraine? l 7. What holiday do we celebrate two weeks ago? l 8. The key word: |

Use it more efficiently, reading more about the history and culture of your Motherland. A person must know where he comes from in order to know better where to go and what to be.

Every time you hear something wrong stop the story and correct the mistake, using a past simple negative, like this: “No Roksolana didn’t live in the town of Konotop. She lived in the town of Rogatyn”. You may play this game as a whole class, it depends. If you don’t know the story of Roksolana, read the text “The Almighty Prisoner” .
When Roksolana was a child she lived in the town of Konotop in Sumskaya region. Her father was a count. In 1520 Roksolana’s friends invited her to visit Turkey. There she fell in love with a Turkish diplomat and married him. Foreign diplomats, contemporaries of Roksolana wrote: vShe was rather frivolous woman”. Two years later her husband died and so she returned to Ukraine.
